I

Dear Fellow Pilots,

On behalf of the International Maritime Pilots' Association (IMPA) Executive, I would like to extend a personal invitation to join with other pilots from around the world for the IMPA 2010 Congress in beautiful Brisbane, Australia.

The theme of the 2010 IMPA Congress is "World Pilots Together." Our theme is fitting, as this important meeting will give maritime pilots from around the globe the opportunity to discuss the state of the piloting profession, share important experiences, consider the challenges facing the profession, and to look to the future even as we honour our long and proud history.

Congress week promises to be stimulating both professionally and personally. An ambitious meeting agenda will allow us to complete important and required IMPA business, give pilots the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with one another, and present pilots with the latest professional and technical information. The program will include renowned keynote speakers and other well-respected presenters who will cover a range of topics tailored specifically for pilots, including innovations, leading practices, new capabilities and potential future trends. Attendees can also look forward to four days of exposure to some of the latest products and services available through commercial exhibitors, vendors and sponsors from maritime companies around the world.

In keeping with the tradition of IMPA, the Congress organizers have designed a social program to maximise your networking opportunities with other pilots and industry colleagues in a relaxed environment that showcases the best that Brisbane has to offer. The planned Welcome Reception, Gala Dinner and Day Excursion will allow you to mix business with pleasure in convivial surroundings. An accompanying Persons Program offers a fabulous treat for our partners and guests.

I look forward to personally welcoming you to the 2010 IMPA Congress in Brisbane.

Welcome to IMPA

IMPA; The International Maritime Pilots' Association, is a professional, nonprofit
making body with a truly international outlook. It is primarily concerned with
promoting professional standards of pilotage worldwide in the interests of
pilots' safety. It seeks to fulfil this momentous task by encouraging both
consultation between its members and the exchange of technical information
with other industry partners and regulators at the local, national and
international levels.

The association was formed thanks to the initiative of pilots' associations from
the five continents whose representatives met in Kiel, Germany in June 1970.
IMPA was officially launched in Amsterdam in May 1971.

To date, it has over 8,000 members in 54 countries. IMPA seeks to achieve its principal objective - the promotion of professionally sound and safe pilotage.
