IMPA Safety Campaign and Survey 2024 Launched
When: The annual IMPA Safety Campaign/Survey will take place, 1 – 15 October 2024.
What: Report compliant and non-compliant boarding arrangements experienced during the survey period. All reports are treated anonymously and are used only to support efforts to improve the safety of pilots on duty.
We encourage every maritime pilot to report on their experiences during at least one period of duty during the survey period.
How: The refreshed IMPA Survey App, which supports online and offline reporting, can be downloaded from Google Play or Apple App Store. There is no need to register to participate in the survey.
All participants require is a valid email address and the universal password.
Why: The lived experience of maritime pilots on duty is a vital source of data used by IMPA to promote a reinvigoration of the safety culture around pilot transfer arrangements. Our most recent success is using the data to support amendments to SOLAS regulation V/23 and developing a new mandatory performance standard for pilot transfer arrangements.
Anonymity: All reports are handled by the Secretariat and data is never shared with third-parties. Aggregated data only is used to further IMPA’s objectives for the safety of pilots on duty.
Action: Pilots everywhere are invited to support the IMPA 2024 Safety Survey by reporting compliant and non-compliant boarding arrangements experienced during the survey period.
